6:00 pm - 1:00 am o' clock: Highlights of the Brandhorst Collection

The Museum Brandhorst houses one of the most impressive collections of contemporary art in Germany and offers a multifaceted overview of art creation from the 1960s to the present. Behind the colorful façade, visitors can currently view works by Andy Warhol, Kerstin Brätsch, Roni Horn, Franz West, and an inspiring selection of works by the American artist Cy Twombly.

Among the highlights of this unique collection are the Rose Room and the Lepanto Cycle, which has its own specially designed room. The monumental Lepanto Cycle (2001) is one of Twombly's major works. The paintings depict one of the most highly symbolic naval battles in world history. In 2008, Twombly created his rose paintings especially for the Museum Brandhorst. The six large-format paintings “Untitled (Roses)” with fragments of poems unfold a very special effect in the Rose Hall and blend painting, architecture, and poetry.
