Psychiatry Museum

The Psychiatry Museum explores the history of the Regensburg District Hospital since its founding in 1852. Over the years, patients have been treated and, ideally, cured here. The development of early psychiatry is also reflected in the building's transformation from the former Charterhouse to today's modern District Hospital. Discover over 1,000 years of fascinating history in one place within the District Hospital, where today everything revolves around brains and nerves.

Kartausen Museum

The romantic St. Vitus Monastery Church is located on the edge of the medbo District Hospital and is now the church to that clinic. Since 1997, the Carthusian Museum has been showcasing the more than 1,000-year history of the site. Initially, Benedictine monks lived here, but later the monastery was converted into the only Carthusian monastery in Old Bavaria. It existed until 1803.

Discover a cell house, the cloister, the church with the famous Annunciation fresco (late 12th century), and, as an insider tip, a hidden chapel. The film "The Great Silence" is shown continuously in the cloister.

There are also guided tours of the museums (meeting point: St. Vitus entrance) and walking concerts by the Cantico choir.

All start times will be available here on our website from September 15.
